There is a woman
I know
who holds the attention
of the Holy One
in the center of her consciousness
at all times
through a breath
a sigh
or travail
with tears
and groaning…
There is a woman
I love
who holds us
while she intercedes
breathing life
into being
and blessing life
into becoming
She is the womb of God upon the earth
For she has been called
to release
with the very power
of God
Life.
Again
and
again
and
again.

One night
One dream;
my blue bird
inside my window
sitting on the ledge
not outside
but inside
and oh, the delight
and when I awoke the next morning
another bird
a more exotic bird
A yellow bird…
frantically trying to get in
from the outside
but there is no way to
get inside

You have brought me a message
little birds, wise birds
today;

You have everything you need.
What you are looking for
You already have

Today, these souls…they cry out
for the boy.
These souls cry out
For the friend
For the brother
For the son…
Snatched
by darkness
before his time
They weep
these souls
and mourn
until eyes
burn and sting
and the numbing
settles in.
As pain subsides
but for a moment
Tell me…
as they lay down
to sleep tonight
and eyes
are dry:
do you have their tears, as you say
in a bottle?
